LLLokiz’s Law: Assault Frigates do not fare well against Battleships

Posted in Uncategorized on January 30, 2010 by khalia

Getting toward the end of a slow night in Dodixie, I found a Raven pilot running a large Angel mission. It wasn’t looking good, but I went in and grabbed some stuff. He fired after the last wreck was gone, but I went for my pew ship and sat on the first gate.

Or that’s what I would have done, but he had closed the mission. Thankfully I still had a few BMs of the rooms, so I tired those. Nothing after a few minutes, so I go back and pick up the Vigil for more salvaging. Come back and find a Hawk on dscan.

Go back for pew, he’s not there again… etc etc.

Eventually the stars align and he warps into one of the rooms just as I do. I start locking him, not hopefully, because my Abbadon will take about 15 seconds to lock his Hawk. To my surprise, he locks and starts pointing me! Either brave or stupid, this one.

I get a point, web, and neuts on him. My T2 drones come out, and I put some distance for my large guns to get hits on him. He tries to get away, but soon goes POP:

I was going to convo, but he ragelogged moments later =)

PQLSEHUNDEN Loses Dominix, 50M to JerkTengu

Posted in Combat, Delicious Tears, Ninja Salvaging on January 29, 2010 by paul

Yawn. I enter the mission and steal a T1 1MN afterburner. The Dominix shoots. I retrieve JerkTengu from the Orca and, after selecting the correct damage type, start knocking big chunks of carebear armor off.

Paul Clavet > 50M ISK for your ship
PQLSEHUNDEN > Stop fireing at least..
Paul Clavet > you have 30 seconds to comply
PQLSEHUNDEN > Sure xD
PQLSEHUNDEN > How do I know that you won’t take down my ship afterwards..?
Paul Clavet > I won’t be able to get more ransoms if I don’t honor them
Paul Clavet > stop repairing
Paul Clavet > no tricks
PQLSEHUNDEN > So you say…
PQLSEHUNDEN > That’s what they all say…
Paul Clavet > fine then
(I start shooting again)
PQLSEHUNDEN > Okay, I’ll comply..
(He pays 50M)
PQLSEHUNDEN > PLease warp out now..?
Paul Clavet > SUDDENLY BETRAYAL

Boom.

Paul Clavet > Now then, what have we learned?
PQLSEHUNDEN > T3’s are gay..?

Wrong. The correct lesson is: Never trust an Honorless Internet Jerk.

STWizard: Fool Me Thrice…

Posted in Capers, Combat, Delicious Tears, Duffers, E-honor on January 15, 2010 by paul

So I’m poking along in my Vigil, cleaning up the last of my scan hits. I warp to a Dominix hit that is half an hour old, nearly guaranteeing that the goods will be long gone when I arrive. Only in this case, what I find is a Dominix tractoring a can called “Tugboat”.

I speed over to the can, which is full of loot and salvage, flip it, and immediately start my Orca pilot warping in to scoop it. I expect nothing more than a silent warp-off or maybe some mild tears, but just as the Orca finishes aligning and leaps into warp, the Dominix locks and fires upon my main’s vigil.

The Orca lands and I improvise, speed-swapping my Vigil for JerkTengu, then falling into a 10km orbit around the Domi and engaging my warp disruptor. After changing to explosive damage, it’s clear that he will have to run his reppers full-out to keep up, and his capacitor just wasn’t going to take it. It’s usually futile to try to ransom dirt-cheap Dominixes, but it’s also usually useless to try to get them to shoot at you, too, so I try.

For the uninitiated: Keep in mind that Reports is not a unique item, but rather can be bought for essentially pennies off the market.

That’s about it for the actual story. I’ll include the rest of the chat log here if you want to see more boneheadedness on his part, but it’s not anything that you couldn’t get from any other PLEX-selling underachiever.

For the Hat Trick: Fabian Akbar loses a Domi

Posted in Combat, Delicious Tears, Ninja Salvaging on January 9, 2010 by khalia

Yes, this makes three kills in one night: Nighthawk, Megatron, Dominix.

Too many Dominix in Dodixie. They’re like the Ford Escort of mission running ships – everywhere, everyone uses them. And they rarely shoot. But I check them out anyways.

So I find one deep into a mission, four gates in. I’m not expecting much, but d-scan shows he is using Federation Navy Ogres. Rich guys usually shoot! I pop in and steal some loot, and he locks and fires.

Back with the Abbadon, and it takes a long time to get it through four gates, but Fabian doesn’t leave, and so I lock him up and pew him down to structure. Then he opens a convo with me.

Killmail is here.

His loot does have some T2 mods, and better, 4 of the Fed Navy Ogres – which are about 5-7m each on contracts. I decide to evemail him some taunts. And use some of his ridiculous bio in it.

thanks again

Oh, and you seem to have forgotten those T2 mods and drones. Tasty!

I’ll let the chat log speak for itself, along with the killmail. I warped in to this no-gate mission and started looting. He fires and I warp off.

Sungi Verto Shoots, Scores (One Lost Navy Megathron)

Posted in Combat, Delicious Tears, Ninja Salvaging on January 9, 2010 by paul

I have raw video of this fight, but the software I was using is flaking out and I haven’t time to work on it any more before I head out of town for the week. Sorry about that.

The scene is a large single-room Serpentis mission with Sungi Verto’s Navy Mega, a friend in a Vexor, and a friend in a Maelstrom. I loot and the Megathron shoots because, hey, Megathrons always shoot.

The Mega goes down, with a little bit of faction loot. During the fight I got the Vexor down to structure before it warped off, and the Maelstrom was apparently AFK, because it sat there uselessly until the Mega fight was almost over, whereupon it beat a very brave retreat. I was at 80% of my shield buffer when the Mega popped.

Sungi opened a convo:

[ 2010.01.10 02:16:17 ] Sungi Verto > congrats to you
[ 2010.01.10 02:16:34 ] Paul Clavet > Thanks!
[ 2010.01.10 02:16:40 ] Paul Clavet > Shame your friends didn’t linger
[ 2010.01.10 02:16:58 ] Sungi Verto > you must really get a kick out of being a total asshole
[ 2010.01.10 02:17:42 ] Paul Clavet > Hey, you’re the one who shot at my little vigil, sparky.
[ 2010.01.10 02:18:10 ] Sungi Verto > got nothing better to do than steal wrecks?
[ 2010.01.10 02:18:34 ] Paul Clavet > I also enjoy popping faction battleships
[ 2010.01.10 02:18:46 ] Paul Clavet > And long walks on the beach
[ 2010.01.10 02:18:54 ] Sungi Verto > well thats ok…i’ve got plenty more
[ 2010.01.10 02:19:11 ] Paul Clavet > Good to know. Keep cashing in those PLEX and losing ships hilariously!
[ 2010.01.10 02:19:24 ] Paul Clavet > I’m glad we could both get the opportunity to be happy.
[ 2010.01.10 02:19:26 ] Sungi Verto > if you say so
[ 2010.01.10 02:19:41 ] Sungi Verto > some players actually earn what they have
[ 2010.01.10 02:19:46 ] Sungi Verto > dick
[ 2010.01.10 02:20:15 ] Paul Clavet > Some players throw away what they have, too
[ 2010.01.10 02:20:19 ] Paul Clavet > So what have you learned?
(Sungi leaves chat)

A while later, Sungi convos me again, this time sounding a bit more conciliatory. We’ll see if I can fix that…

[ 2010.01.10 02:45:28 ] Paul Clavet > Why, hello again.
[ 2010.01.10 02:45:49 ] Sungi Verto > hey sorry for being hostile you did teach me a lesson
[ 2010.01.10 02:46:03 ] Paul Clavet > heh
[ 2010.01.10 02:46:13 ] Paul Clavet > Your tears, while now regretted, are still just as sweet to me.
[ 2010.01.10 02:46:26 ] Paul Clavet > You know, I would have offered you a ransom but you had your convos turned off.
[ 2010.01.10 02:46:46 ] Sungi Verto > right
[ 2010.01.10 02:47:34 ] Sungi Verto > i learned to leave the bottom feeder wreck thieves alone well done…thanks for all the great memories
[ 2010.01.10 02:47:55 ] Paul Clavet > I am very glad I could be of service
[ 2010.01.10 02:48:14 ] Sungi Verto > why do you guys do that anyway?
[ 2010.01.10 02:48:28 ] Paul Clavet > Griefing, like butterflies, needs no excuse.
[ 2010.01.10 02:49:28 ] Sungi Verto > just to piss people off…have fun buddy.good luck making friends.see ya around
[ 2010.01.10 02:49:44 ] Paul Clavet > heh heh

Dr Resurection discovers Command Ships aren’t invulnerable

Posted in Combat, Ninja Salvaging on January 9, 2010 by khalia

Out scanning in Dodixie today and got a Nighthawk hit. Command Ships usually either assume they can take anything, or they won’t fire a shot. I warp in and start grabbing loot and salvage. I think he was AFK, because on the fifth or sixth wreck he targets and fires all at once.

I go get the Abbadon Of Doom and bring the Alt Domi of Repping for insurance. He’s at 20km when I get in, but I can point him; I overheat my mids and burn toward him. The Domi struggles to keep up but the Nighthawk is falling. He nearly gets outside of my disruptor range when he pops.

I scoop the loot and start a convo with him. He’s not much for tears, so I throw a few jabs and move on.

[ 2010.01.10 00:17:40 ] Khalia Nestune > o/
[ 2010.01.10 00:17:46 ] Dr Resurection > hi
[ 2010.01.10 00:17:58 ] Khalia Nestune > well, I hope you’ve learned not to shoot at ninjas =)
[ 2010.01.10 00:18:19 ] Dr Resurection > i learned next time i’ll be prepared
[ 2010.01.10 00:18:37 ] Khalia Nestune > yeah, how are you going to do that? =)
[ 2010.01.10 00:19:12 ] Dr Resurection > would be pretty stupid to tell you
[ 2010.01.10 00:19:27 ] Khalia Nestune > there’s not much that you could tell me that I haven’t heard before
[ 2010.01.10 00:19:44 ] Khalia Nestune > “oh next time I’ll be ‘prepared'” and yet they never are
[ 2010.01.10 00:20:12 ] Khalia Nestune > best preparation is not to shoot!
[ 2010.01.10 00:20:22 ] Dr Resurection > good for you then
[ 2010.01.10 00:20:28 ] Khalia Nestune > man I hope you had that insured, nighthakws are like 250m
[ 2010.01.10 00:21:26 ] Dr Resurection > t2 have crappy inssurance deals
[ 2010.01.10 00:21:35 ] Khalia Nestune > sucks to be you then
[ 2010.01.10 00:21:47 ] Dr Resurection > why?
[ 2010.01.10 00:22:10 ] Khalia Nestune > well, now you have no ship and no decent insurance payback
[ 2010.01.10 00:22:25 ] Dr Resurection > i have no ships?
[ 2010.01.10 00:22:33 ] Khalia Nestune > don’t feel bad, you’re not the first CS I’ve killed
[ 2010.01.10 00:23:28 ] Khalia Nestune > Well, more idiots to pew. Ta-ta

I wonder what prep he’s got in mind? Gonna drag an alt along every time? That would be amusing.

fydeg Meets JerkRaven, Dies Boringly, Threatens Doom

Posted in Combat, Duffers, Ninja Salvaging on January 9, 2010 by paul

So I’m salvaging a Mission Generic field. Actually, I’m just looting. Metal Scraps are a pain. There’s a Raven there, but the mission is complete and it’s just hanging around. I get a convo:

[ 2010.01.09 15:35:49 ] Paul Clavet > o/
[ 2010.01.09 15:35:53 ] fydeg > dont take my wreck, paul.
[ 2010.01.09 15:36:31 ] Paul Clavet > waaaah
[ 2010.01.09 15:36:42 ] fydeg > or i will shoot you.
[ 2010.01.09 15:36:49 ] Paul Clavet > yeah right
[ 2010.01.09 15:36:50 ] Paul Clavet > carebear
[ 2010.01.09 15:37:13 ] Paul Clavet > 1400mm Howitzer Artillery I
[ 2010.01.09 15:37:14 ] Paul Clavet > yay
[ 2010.01.09 15:37:19 ] fydeg > ypu are red in my radar
[ 2010.01.09 15:37:45 ] fydeg > you i mean
[ 2010.01.09 15:37:51 ] Paul Clavet > so?
[ 2010.01.09 15:38:33 ] fydeg > thats mean i can shoot you if you dont leave my wreck. its mine mission.
[ 2010.01.09 15:38:47 ] Paul Clavet > Mine now
[ 2010.01.09 15:39:18 ] fydeg > no

You may notice that my tone is a little different than usual with this particular carebear. Usually I go for straight wit, but for some reason I thought that a more boorish approach would work better with this guy. I’m doing my best to sound like someone with much worse bark than bite, because it seems like that’s what he’ll respond well to. It turns out that I’m right.

He doesn’t even launch drones, but fires a cruise missile at me. I run off.

[ 2010.01.09 15:39:45 ] Paul Clavet > screw you
[ 2010.01.09 15:40:12 ] fydeg > why dont you lissen.

I close convo and grab JerkRaven. I land right on top of him and knock out his shields and cap in four volleys.

[ 2010.01.09 15:43:39 ] Paul Clavet > 200M for your ship
[ 2010.01.09 15:44:02 ] Paul Clavet > 20 seconds to comply
[ 2010.01.09 15:44:27 ] Paul Clavet > last chance
[ 2010.01.09 15:44:34 ] fydeg > what
[ 2010.01.09 15:44:43 ] Paul Clavet > you will send me 200M ISK or die
[ 2010.01.09 15:44:49 ] fydeg > ok take it

He withdraws his drones. He is now in half structure. I turn off my launchers but leave my Neuts engaged.

[ 2010.01.09 15:45:26 ] fydeg > how do i do it
[ 2010.01.09 15:45:31 ] Paul Clavet > right click my name
[ 2010.01.09 15:45:33 ] Paul Clavet > send money
[ 2010.01.09 15:45:36 ] Paul Clavet > 200,000,000
[ 2010.01.09 15:45:37 ] Paul Clavet > send
[ 2010.01.09 15:45:40 ] Paul Clavet > you have 15 seconds
[ 2010.01.09 15:46:32 ] fydeg > i dont care. i have clone. and will be wanted.
[ 2010.01.09 15:46:45 ] Paul Clavet > Your money or your ship. How much is it worth to you?
[ 2010.01.09 15:47:13 ] fydeg > my ship. 70 i think
[ 2010.01.09 15:47:23 ] Paul Clavet > I’ll take 70, it’ll be worth more to me than your loot
[ 2010.01.09 15:48:18 ] Paul Clavet > Send it and I’ll let you go, I don’t care about your crap ship
[ 2010.01.09 15:48:34 ] fydeg > do it. and i and my corp will hunt you down. i will put bounty on you.
[ 2010.01.09 15:48:41 ] Paul Clavet > fair enough

I send a single volley, and fydeg’s Raven vanishes in a puff of logic.

[ 2010.01.09 15:51:51 ] Paul Clavet > Now then, what have we learned?
