Playing the Spy – A guide to Corporate Theft in EVE

Tuesday, August 17th, 2010

WARNING: Long Post. This post is about 6 pages long at 2200 words in Word, so… Use your judgment whether or not ya wanna read it. It’s intended to be a link-to guide for anyone asking me about corp infil.

When I first started dabbling in the art of corporate infiltration, I looked around for a guide. There were hints, and posts about people’s success with it, but I never found an all-in-one resource that focused on that playstyle alone.

Since having my own success with it, I’ve been asked by many people how exactly I go about doing it. Questions like “how do I know what will be a good target?” or “what do I do once I get into the corp?”

Initially, I educated individual people, but eventually, it gets kinda redundant. So, I hope this guide will explain to the reader exactly what to do during every step of the way. So without further adieu, let’s begin.

Step 1: Target selection.

This step is perhaps the most important, and is where a lot of people will fail. Finding a decent target is hard to do, as there are many, many worthless corps out there. A great place to start looking is the recruitment channel. Yes, that channel you were pointed to as a noob.

In this channel, are a lot of spammers, advertising their corp, their alliance, or whatever. You want to read these spam messages. Yep, every one of them. Generally, when looking for a new target, I’ll leave the channel up in its own window while I play with my main, and look at it every few seconds.

What you’re looking for is essentially a corp or alliance that has a crapload of assets, and minimal security. Great targets for this are industrial corps, and/or wormhole corps. These types of corporations generally have the manpower to get a lot of things done, but on the whole are not smart enough to manage themselves.

Look for corps that advertize things like mining ops, ship replacement, access to a POS for things like research, and possibly a corp hanger. Anything that catches your eye, show info on. In terms of numbers, you want something bigger than around 10 people, and less than a hundred. The reason I say this is because out of that hundred people, maybe 2 or 3 will be smart enough to figure things out on their own. And you want dumb people.

Whether you choose a corp or alliance is up to you. Alliances can be more difficult, but can have greater rewards. When choosing an alliance, I look for words like POS, carrier support, freighters, industrial arms, Orca supported mining, and the mother of all possibilities – a Rorqual.

In terms of security, the less the better. A corp that insta-accepts is good. Here’s how I find this out. When you have a corp spam message that has your interest, find their public channel. Never, EVER talk to them in recruitment. Otherwise, they can call you out later if they see you talking to another target corp. So, join their pub channel, and just lurk for a while. See what happens when someone else joins the channel. Does the corp try to sell itself to this person? Does the corp seem to be desperate for members? How long is it from when that person came into the channel to when they were admitted to the corp? Did they ask for an API?

These are the things you need to check before piping up. API is a large one. This doesn’t matter if your infiltration character is on a separate account, but if it’s on your main’s account, better avoid giving them your api.

But what do corps want? In general, industry / wormhole corps are going to want industrialists, and people to do sites with them. For example, industry corps will practically beg for you if you can fly a Hulk, any mining barge, an orca, or other industrial ship. MANY carebear corps that are great targets will love you if you have a ship to do missions, preferably L4’s in, with them.

All in all, here is an example of a decent choice for a corporate infiltration:

Note what they offer to their members.

And here is one that is not so good:

Just not enough of a description.

Step 2: Entering their midst.

So you’ve picked your target, and are lurking their public channel, finding things out about them. But how do you approach getting accepted?

This step is relatively easy. What you need to do here first is announce your presence to them. Say hi in their channel, and start asking questions you already know the answers to from lurking their channel. Things like where they’re based, what they do, how their leadership is structured…

Here is also where you want to find out what they have that you can steal. Ask whoever talks to you about the corp/alliance goals, short and long term. Ask what they offer their members, and what their members must give for the corp. Ask when and where they mission or mine. Ask their timezone, what their members fly (do this casually, like “I’m in such and such a ship, is this normal or do you guys like such and such a class”). Also ask if there are any positions you can fill within the corp, things that can potentially give you roles with which to steal. Finally, ask what you need to do to apply. If they say API, there’s your security red flag. If they just tell you to submit an app, go ahead, if you’re happy with the target.

CHECKLIST: Check these things off before you submit an application.

  1. I have talked to a director, or the CEO.
  2. I know where the corp is based, and how many people it has.
  3. I know a rough guess of corporate assets.
  4. I know corp security, and what’s required of me.
  5. I have something they want.

Step Three : Building relations.

So you’ve gotten yourself into a corporation with lots of shiny ships and assets… But what do you do now?

First thing to do, is to get to their area with whatever ship that can help them. Generally, I try to mine for a few hours for them as soon as I join. Just do it around other members, so they can attest to your helping hand. If someone in the corp wants help with missions, now is the time to do it for them. Build trust early.

For recon, this is the stage where you need to find out everyone’s hours of operation. If you want, keep a table of when they log in, and when they log out, include things like what ships they fly, and their normal activities. Now is also the time to make a note detailing their POS setup, if they have one. Also make note on their base, things like how many of the members use it as home, also note whether or not you have access to corporate hangers. If you do, take a look at the contents – assess the value. Check market value on things, and just generally poke your head around everywhere.

Spend time doing missions with them, participating in mining ops, and things like that. Make it clear that you definitely want to help with the corporation. Ideally, what you want is to be given roles. POS management roles are one of the best things to strive for, as are hanger take roles. And, if you’re ambitious enough, ask what it takes to become a director.

This step can take a few days, and it can take months. It depends on your effort, and ability to manipulate people.

CHECKLIST: Check these off before looking at the next step.

  1. I’m good friends with management in the corporation.
  2. I’m looking to become someone in power, and know what it takes to get there.
  3. I have corporate trust, and most members know me positively.
  4. I assist corp members in things they need help with.
  5. I know what ships people fly, what assets there are that are worth stealing, and when they are available.

Step 4: When to act.

Knowing when to spring into action is highly situational, and involves many, many factors. Generally, I wait until I have access to everything of value, or until I’m close to being found out. This involves knowing the people in your corp / alliance. If I’m liked in the corp, I know where the assets are, and when they aren’t in anyone’s hands, and I have the roles necessary to take from every hanger, this is generally the time to act.

Here is also when you’ll need to figure out whether or not you want to gank. You have two options. You can kill corp members after you steal everything, and risk not being able to use that alt again for infiltration (every kill you make is recorded somewhere, and people who see you corp killing won’t like you much), or you can do it the clean way, and just steal.

Either way can be rewarding, and the only thing that matters is whether or not you care about that character, and, whether or not that character can gank decently.

I’ll devote a special bit to POS’s here. If you intend to steal one, one of the best things you can do to avoid the offline timer (as I understand it), is to figure out its cycle point. You want to check the fuel levels in the POS every hour of a day, and see on which hour they drop. This is its cycle hour, or the time which it draws from its fuel reserves. Next day, come back at that hour, and sit at the POS, and figure out the exact minute it cycles.

What you’ll attempt to do here is work your corp theft so that everything is stolen and done before the POS draws its fuel. Then, just before it does, you remove all fuel from its bays, so when it goes to siphon more off, there is none, and it offlines. Then, you need only unanchor it and cart it off, along with everything else.

CHECKLIST:

  1. I know when people in the corp are offline, and have worked out the best time to do this.
  2. I have corporate trust.
  3. I have as many roles as I can get that will allow me to take everything I want.
  4. If there are carriers or large items floating in a POS, I know when / if they’re unmanned.
  5. If I intend to yoink a POS, I know its fuel cycle point.

Step 5: The Job

Good, so you know you’re ready to roll. You know the ships people fly, the times when the corp is inactive, when the POS chugs more fuel, where all the assets are, you know exactly what your roles allow you to do, and nobody suspects a thing. Here’s the fun bit.

You need to bide your time, and not get all giddy and botch the job. You need to have your own plan in mind for how you want this to all work out. Generally, my plan would be to wait for the time the corp is the most inactive, on a day where I have nothing else to do but play.

When that time comes, wait for when you know the POS will chug fuel. This may or may not happen correctly, and the times might be way off, so you might need to wait for a POS, or, if you have the roles, what you can do is just start the offline process, and then start your thievery.

When everyone’s offline, and your POS is offlining and/or approaching its cycle point, start the show. Use your roles to empty every corp hangar, maintenance bay (needs to be done before pos starts offlining, I believe), and asset you can get your hands on. Put them all in your personal hanger. Don’t worry, no corp can take from your own hanger.

When that’s all done, and you have all their shinies sitting in your hanger, go back to the POS, and wait for it to finish offlining, or, at this point, you can choose to pull the fuel right before it cycles. After that, start the unanchoring process. After everything’s unanchored, cart it all off in a hauler, or at least the modules of any real value. Losing a POS can be one of the biggest middle fingers to a corp out there, and they’ll hate you for it. J

Lastly, go do a little dance. Your days to months of work have paid off, and you now own all their crap. Also, if this guide helped you at all, and you pulled something off, mail me! Either my ingame name or at charismatic@mylootyourtears.com I love hearing about my influence on someone to go do something that I would do, and hey, if it’s epic enough, I might even have to mention it on the blog.

Addendum:

This guide isn’t perfect. If you find something wrong with it, particularly in the POS procedures, as I’m rusty with those, don’t hesitate to mail me about it. Corrections and updates are good.

Why I Do Not Live In 0.0

Sunday, August 15th, 2010

Paul wrote a very nice post about things that matter, and I’m going to steal his format to talk about why I don’t live in null-security space.

You’ve Got A Friend In Me

EVE is best played with other people, in a corporation. No where is this more evident than in 0.0 space, where alliances with numbers of corporations fight over pieces of territory. Where everyone can shoot each other at will you want to have a group of friends for mutual safety, intelligence, and pooled resources. The solo player is at a huge disadvantage in 0.0 space.

The people that I’ve built friendships and trust relationships with during my time in EVE are not the type of people who form into large groups for mutual self-protection. My buddies are salvagers, griefers, and mercenaries. With the possible exception of mercenaries, these groups don’t translate well into the 0.0 scene. Salvagers and griefers are by nature independent creatures, and the fact that they have a 100+ person corporation (Suddenly Ninjas) is mainly due to new players wanting a home with like-minded individuals.

My active participation on this blog has linked my name to these activities, including corporate infiltration. If I wanted to join a 0.0 alliance I’d almost certainly get turned away – who wants a known spy in their corporation? It’s unlikely any existing 0.0 group is going to take me in.

Politics means ‘Many Bloodsuckers’

I really can’t give a damn about the alliance politics. CVA, Ushra’khan, BoB, Northern Coalition – they’re all just names to me, as they haven’t had much affect on my gameplay up until now. I have a healthy interest in real-life politics, but game politics just don’t mean anything to me.

The following of alliance politics seems to be a prerequisite for survival in nullsec, with people going so far as to make automated maps and complex non-aggression pact chains (thanks to commenter for the link). I just don’t care.

Going Where No Carebear Has Gone Before

My game play styles are salvaging, infiltration, scamming, and griefing. None of these really work in 0.0, except for infiltration which works anywhere. Scamming is best done in market hubs and on contracts; salvaging in 0.0 just gets you shot at by fifteen people; and griefing doesn’t really have any meaning when everyone can shoot everyone else all the time.

The real game of 0.0 appears to be two-fold: Resource farming and fleet warfare. Keeping sovereignty these days means keeping enough ISK flowing to pay the upkeep on your territory units and upgrades, and you need people to farm those. Then you have the option to try to take over some other corporation/alliance space, and defending your own.

Resource farming is a lot like mission running, which is really not interesting to me. (Aside: As the crappy economy has left me jobless for the moment, I have to pay my four accounts with PLEX. Which has forced me to run missions with my alts, as I need at least 40M ISK/day to PLEX all four accounts. NOT FUN.) Ratting and mining is terribly boring. I have to admit that the high-end complexes would be interesting in that they drop 100 million to billion ISK modules, but at the end of it you’re just farming again.

Fleet battles are notorious for lag issues. I have sat in on a few in a cloaky ship and seen it first hand, and it does indeed suck. I shudder to think at throwing a billion ISK carrier into one of these, only to lose it while waiting five minutes for the grid to load. If CCP ever resolves the lag issue – check again in 18 months apparently – I could see myself in some large fleet battles. The actual taking of a system or station isn’t really that exciting to me, but mass scale combat has appeal.

And Yet…

So for the tl;dr people, I’m not living in 0.0 because I don’t have any friends, no one trusts me, I’m not a farmer, and lag is a bitch.

Despite this I have to admit that I have occasionally daydreamed about tossing a barebones POS up in NPC-faction 0.0 space and using it as a base. Then I ask myself what I would *do* and I come back to ratting, plexing, and hoping to catch some other solo player alone before he notices me in local and cloaks up.

And then I’m back to the beginning.

Rothrizar learns Scamming 101, provides delicious tears

Saturday, July 24th, 2010

I’ve been away from the Jerk lifestyle for a while, trying some of the other things in EVE. One of the Ninja Alliance members, Meccros, had been making ISK from loan scams – which I had not tried – and I got the chance to try it out today. Hillarity resulted.

I was using one of my alts in Jita for some market manipulation when I saw someone in local requesting a loan:

Rothrizar > can someone lend me ISK for a ship?

I quickly convo’d him to see if I could pull one over on him.

Secret Alt > hi there
Secret Alt > you were looking for a loan?
Rothrizar > hello
Rothrizar > yes, im looking to get enough ISK to purchase the Raven and fit it
Secret Alt > And how are you paying back?
Rothrizar > I guess its not really a loan then lol
Secret Alt > I can loan you isk, if you’re willing to pay it back with a small amount extra, if you tell me how you’re making money
Secret Alt > are you missioning?
Rothrizar > thats what i was doing
Secret Alt > Hm, I see
Rothrizar > i was piloting a drakerunning lvl 3s
Secret Alt > do you have anything to offer as colateral?
Secret Alt > ah, ok
Secret Alt > you could offer the drake as collateral
Rothrizar > the only problem with that is, it doesnt exist anymore
Secret Alt > Hm.
Rothrizar > I have a primae over in eitu
Rothrizar > bout all i have left hehe
Secret Alt > Oh, that would work
Secret Alt > How much ISK are you looking for?
Rothrizar > 40 mil max
Secret Alt > Ok, I can do that.
Secret Alt > I’ll need to fly over to Eitu to set up the contract there
Secret Alt > standard loan contract
Secret Alt > Just don’t screw me over, ok? ;)
Rothrizar > I wont screw you over

With trust established, I head over to Eitu to take his Primae. Click below to read on =)

This is LONG, but totally worth the read.

Persistence Pays Off

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

I was checking my expired contracts on my alt, and I saw these:

I just made 325m. Yeah. I love EVE, and the retarded people that hit accept without looking. :)

I am an idiot. Rofl.

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

So I’m in a backwater system with two of my accounts missioning to improve my alt’s crappy minmatar standing. I get the mission, The Right Hand of Zazmatazz. Okay, I know for a fact my drake needs help to tank this, so I get my alt in his crappy fit repper Domi, and warp into the mission. As I’ve done this mission before, I know with reps I can take full aggro, so I do.

I launch my alt’s drones, and target the scramfrigs. I attack with my alt’s drones while killing BSs with my Drake. First frig pops, I engage drones…. CONCORD WARNING, WANT TO PASS THIS? I click yes, thinking once again that this is just the aid someone at war thing. Since I’m way the hell out, I know there aren’t any war targets around, and hit yes.

Suddenly, my Domi starts taking damage…. wtf? I look back at its client, and pop goes the domi…. Wat, what?

Even better, without the Domi’s reps, my Drake can’t handle the aggro, gets scrammed, pop goes the drake…. *facepalm*

So what really happened was that aid war person warning was really a “WANNA ATTACK THIS DOOD?” warning. So basically, I accidentally, suicided my Domi on my Drake. Fail. Guess it’s back to ninjaing… I obviously can’t mission correctly….. -sigh-

Ganks, Persistance, and The Mega of Doom

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

So apparently, a couple members of JERKS are feeling a bit bearish recently, due to ganking missioners too much, and are doing things like Plexes and lowsec missions and whathaveyou. This is all well and good, and I actually support it, as variety keeps people from burning out.

I, however, am apparently on an opposite schedule, as I just wanna keep chasing after the bears and risking my ships :) So in lieu of their not posting as much as usual, I’ll probably be posting like bloody mad, for your entertainment, of course. :)

Today started with me attempting to do some L4′s with all of my alts in a fleet, like an uber bear. I told myself I’d do them until my main was clear of his negative sec status. 15 minutes later I was shuttling all of my alts to Agrallarier because our ninja friend Clantyn had logged in and had started getting shot at. So much for missions.

I fleeted up with him and we started scanning down the bears, who never seem to want to shoot me (curse you, sec status). A couple hours go by, and we get a hint in The Ninja Alliance Channel that a ninja in the same system needs some assistance. BM Dublyoo had scored Megathron aggression, but it had warped off before he could come back with his trimarked cane. All of us split off, and went to adjacent systems, finding the MR first in one system, then the other. Finally, he stayed put, and I was called in to scan him down.

I got into system with BM still refreshing aggro on the guy, and dropped probes and started scanning. With Clantyn and Kel’airy’s advice (who had him on dscan), I chose a direction, and sent my probes off. Nothing. I moved them again.. Megathron hit… went for the pinpoint scan… nothing. Apparently he was bouncing between or had turned a mission in, because it took me about 20 minutes to find him. Finally, success. BM roared into system, and shot off to my scan hit. Then he laughed in fleet chat – I had scanned the wrong Mega.

Facepalming, I stopped rushing, and looked at things logically. See, dscan and probing are two different things, and one must translate direction in order to position their probes properly. So I looked, I had him on dscan at approximately 9AU out, and he was right infront of my ship, and the sun was directly behind. Aha! Now I had a landmark to work with. I jumped into probe mode, and dropped my probes 9AU from me, opposite to the sun, and hit scan. First result – Megathron, 100%, and warpable.

Once again, BM raced into the system and shot off to the site. This time, I got the right mega. On his call, all 3 of our remote rep cruisers (read: overkill) warped into the mission our target was now doing. Taking the gates, I arrived in just enough time to target the mega and BM, and sick my rr drones on BM, who was taking light damage. Seconds later, the Mega exploded.

BM also got a small tear in a private mail:

From: NeO X96

Sent: 2010.07.14 00:57

To: BM Dublyoo,

bte F U!

BM then sent him a nice bill for our services. All in all, that was an hour of extending aggro, and half an hour for me scanning. But hey, patience pays off.

A little while later, Clantyn managed to get some Maelstrom aggro, and jumped back with his cane, with the Mael still in the mission.

Once again, our 3 rr cruisers ran after him on his call, and I actually got to rep Clant for a few minutes before the Mael died. Clant tried a ransom attempt, but only got this in return:

[ 2010.07.14 01:32:51 ] Clantyn > 100 mil
[ 2010.07.14 01:32:53 ] Clantyn > right now
[ 2010.07.14 01:32:56 ] Clantyn > or its dead
[ 2010.07.14 01:33:09 ] deedawg > lol i got plenty to replace.. have fun :)

Lastly, I’d like to leave this post with announcing the best and most amazing Megathron I have EVER seen. Kel’airy scanned this one down, and we just had to take some pictures. You can see for yourself why it’s so amazing:

Yes, folks, that’s a shield boosting mega. But wait, there’s more:

Yep, lazors and missiles………………….. Finally, I scanned the thing, and came up with this:

Umm, yeah. No comment.

I fired a nice mail off to his CEO, detailing his fitting crimes. We’ll see what happens.

Ninja Schemes, 2for1′s, and NinjaRaven’s Almost Demise

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

So after the last PI patch (which I fiddled with, but ultimately left to rot on some planet somewhere in Vylade), the mission agents in hub systems now routinely send bears out to adjacent systems to kill more poor rats. A ninja by the name of Clantyn suggested to me that Agrallarier was a now used adjacent system that could be used for ninja staging.

Since it’s only one jump away from the JerkHome of Dodixie, I happily threw my Orca into gear and bounced into system.

A while later, Clantyn got aggro from a Typhoon. My rep ship wasn’t around, so all I could do was watch as the Phoon died a quick death to Clantyn’s Hurricane.

But this wasn’t my fight, and all I could do is watch.

However, an hour or two later, things changed. Clantyn managed to get a Dominix to shoot him, but on return with his cane found empty space. Missionrunners do this a fair bit – shoot at the ninja, and then leave the site immediately. However, this missioner was a little more daft than some, and apparently had gone to fit for PvP. This is when one of our more well known ninja friends decided to come help with the situation. Since this particular ninja prefers to maintain anonymous for repeat gank later, he has chosen the name “**** *****”, which will be used from here on.

**** ***** did some social engineering akin to what I did on a much earlier Abaddon gank with Khalia, which I also blogged. Here is his chat prior to being fleeted with our missioner target:

As you can see, our friend **** ***** lulled our target into thinking that he would in fact remote rep HIM, and not US. Since I wanted aggro to bring in my Raven, he also got our target to think of me as primary.

At this point, I was ready with my SURPRISE! ARMOR REP! Osprey at the system sun, and another ninja friend Kel’airy was ready with a repping Exqueror, Clant was in mission with his Hurricane, and our friend **** ***** was warping in with our target, ready to assist us instead.

Clantyn barked in fleet chat that he had Kalumleiba12 (the target) pointed. I came in with my Osprey, and started repping. Kalumleiba12 apparently primaried me, and I got scrammed, and my Osprey went up in a ball of flames. A moment of silence for Hero Osprey, which had survived numerous encounters with 10% structure or so remaining after each one.

I quickly warped my pod out, and off to Dixie, for NinjaRaven, all the while screaming at Clant to forget neuts and just keep his bloody point on him till I could return. Back in dixie, I swapped for the Raven and undocked, jumping back into Agrall. As I warped to Clant, I remembered a Ninja Chat Channel request for my next gank, and started playing the Top Gun theme. :)

I landed 2km from the target and his remote repping alt Domi’s, locked, and engaged both heavy neuts, my point, and started lobbing Faction torps at Kalumleiba12. Screw his remote reps, Clant, myself, and Kel, who had been shot as well, and had returned in a Megathron, were going to power right through it.

All of a sudden, I started taking major hits. Apparently, Kalumleiba12 had primaried me once again as my Raven landed, and started lobbing everything he had at me. After a minute or two, my Raven’s shields dropped. Uh-oh. Here is an excerpt from fleet chat:

At this point, I had taken massive dammage, and was into structure. But not to fear, **** ***** came to my rescue, Kel too. Both of them poured every rep they had onto my Raven, and amazingly, kept it from dying, despite its tank being completely obliterated. As my armor surged back to full, Kalumleiba12′s Dominix exploded. After which I turned my attention to the remote repper Domi, which fell like a pile of rocks.

Warping back to the nearest station, I saw this.

That’s not good. :P A Raven without a shield may as well be dead. :) Talking after the fight ensued:

So all in all, a pretty epic night. I got on two killmails, and my Raven did not die, thanks to our anonymous friends’ hero reps. :P

Sadly, my Osprey did, but it was all in good faith, as I got my revenge. At least Kalumleiba12 can tell his corpies that he killed something before having to explain how he lost two Domis’ in a fight he came ?prepared? for.

As an addendum to this, Clantyn managed to get a convo with the missionrunner the next morning. Apparently, he came back to finish his mission, and Clantyn, in true ninja fashion, looted everything. But, the mr had learned, and gave no aggro. Here is the chat log, good bits are bolded. Though it is a tad long:

And another heist…. Two is better than one?

Sunday, July 11th, 2010

Yep, it’s been quiet ’round here, but we aren’t dead by a longshot. Much of Jerks have been doing their own thing for the past little while, a few of us are into infiltration…

So… Heist #2. Bit more successful.

So I log into my infiltration alt this morning, and a bunch of the corp members are yapping about a Drake fit that’s absolutely horrid, and I completely rip on it and him. Granted, I was a bit harsh and all, but people need to learn. For the record, it was a full T1 drake. Not even best named. Here is the convo. Names have been changed to avoid my alt getting compromised. :)

[ 2010.07.11 21:36:14 ] Infil Alt > Again, respec best named T1 if you must

[ 2010.07.11 21:50:03 ] Infil Alt > No. It’s just too time consuming. What’s the problem with looking at the market? I think the main problem is that you don’t know how to fit things yourself and rely on others to tell you what to do.
[ 2010.07.11 21:50:14 ] idiot 2 > Is it soo hard to post a T1 fitting?

[ 2010.07.11 21:59:44 ] Infil Alt > Because it was a T1

[ 2010.07.11 22:06:11 ] Idiot 3 > Its gotta be the most expensive small item right?

//Umm no…… There are faction mods worth more than a PLEX.//

So, from that convo, it got a couple pissed off enough at me to complain to the directors of the corp, and I found out a little later that I had a few roles removed as a result of it.

After finding out that some key roles had been removed, I checked on what I did have. Apparently they took away a couple pos roles, so I couldn’t cart the whole thing off as I planned, but I still had access to pretty much everything else.

After a bit of decision making in TNA chat, I warped my Orca alt’s pod over to the POS system, way off in Amarr space, and positioned him at the shield.

I had taken a look at the corp hangars before at the POS and knew what I’d probably get, so I wasn’t surprised to see two Orcas and a Nighthawk. I launched the first Orca, and started bumping it with my stabber (the 100mn ab stabber Meccros suggested works rather well :P). After 3 or 4 half ass bumps, the ship was out of the POS shield, and my alt had boarded it.

As I launched and started bumping the nighthawk away from the POS, I took a look at my new Orca. Well holy shit… The thing was T2 fitted and rigged, and had a 100mn Republic Fleet AB. Inside it were two Claw Interceptors. :) My main had actually been needing once recently, so score. :)

I warped back to base with both of my characters, leaving the Orca at base and warping the alt back to the POS, and thieved everything I could from the corp hangar with my infil alt. This included some 80 million trit, 12000 Zydrine (worth a nice amount of ISK), and about 30 BPC’s for some random T1 / T2 modules. Among them, I had to gawk for a second, because I found myself a large ship assembly array  BPO (which I had heard them talking about buying this very morning, worth about 100m), and…… a Drake BPO, worth about 375m.

After looting all of that, I undocked in the Stabber again, and warped back to the POS.

I launched the second Orca, and proceeded to bump it as I had before. As it was just clearing the POS shield, the corp CEO warps in to the POS, presumably he needed ammo or something, because I knew he was on a group L4 mission with the rest of the bears.. I looked in corp chat as my alt boarded my second new Orca just long enough to see this:

[ 2010.07.11 23:52:11 ] Corp CEO> Umm, wtf are u doing

I sped off with my infil alt, and docked him, closing his client, looking forward to the many mailtears that should await me when I check back after my roles have dropped. As my Orca alt sat there with the CEO a few km off, I took a look over this Orca. Also T2 rigged and fitted! But no faction this time :( But there was more in store. :P

I opened cargo to see a bunch of random T2 mods, and about 30k T2 missiles, presumably for the CEO’s Nighthawk, which I had nicked as well. But the real prize was the ship maint, array. I opened it up, and had to open it again to make sure it wasn’t a bug. Inside the ship array was a Proteus, and a Loki. I knew the corp had T3 assets, but I thought they were always piloted. I guess not! From the conversations I overheard in corp, I guess them to be each worth around 500m (cheap bears fit cheaply).

I docked the second Orca up right away, as to avoid a suicide attempt, and started counting the shinies. :)

So my final tally is:

2x T2 fit and rigged orcas, one with faction AB.

2.3 BILLION ISK.

Various T1 and T2 mods, and assets:

200 million ISK.

Fully fitted Nighthawk:

270 million ISK.

Two fitted T3 ship:

Approx 1 BILLION ISK.

Final count:

3.77 BILLION ISK.

Not bad for a month’s work, I’d say.

I’ll add pictures later, if and when I feel like Photoshopping all the fun informational my_alt_will_never_infil_again bits, and I’ll add tears if / when I get them. But for now, I think this is decent. :) Much better than the original Orca Heist. I seem to have a pattern of involving an Orca or two every time I rip someone off… Let’s see if I can’t keep that going.

Happy Orca

I saw this tonight and had to share.

Wardecs and Mails

Saturday, June 19th, 2010

Hello again all. In lieu of not having many recent PvP posts, I give you one of my more recent projects, and its results.

Basically, for this project, what I do, is go around a high sec system capable of supporting a POS. This means .5-.7 space. Once there, fly to each moon of each planet in turn, and look at the POSs there. Find the ones that don’t have guns, or have a crapload of labs (faction towers are juicy). Next find what corp that POS belongs to, and mail them a ransom for the tower, stating you’ll blow it up if they don’t pay. Should look something like this:

Then, you should get a response like this:

To which you should respond like this :) :

Finally, you may, or may not get a final response, which may or may not look like this:

And that completes the process. :)

I’d like to Thank Khalia here for providing me with a nice laugh. I alt-tabbed back into EVE after an extended afk session, and saw this:

So yeah. There’s my new project. One hour’s work turned into 3 wardecs. Bear in mind I did not ask 100 mill for all of those towers. I assessed the condition / modules active before arriving at a price.
